last week we saw that we are pure not by our deeds but by our faith in Jesus. Jesus purifies us.
The second on the list of what it means to be righteous is to be "blamless".
The dictionary definition...
of the word "blameless" implies one who can't be CONDEMNED, faultless, guiltless, innocent or if you like—pure.
I once heard a fellow say this "when I was still a cold Christian I allowed something terrible happen to my family and the Holy spirit started to BLAME me for the death of my family member"
Seriously? The Holy Ghost? Blame you?
Let us look for examples where in the New Testament the Holy blamed people.
See Gal2:11-13 Peter's action caused some believers faith to shake. It was Paul that blamed him not the Holy Ghost.
In acts 10:11-17 when Peter was told to eat that which God gave and he called it unclean, God didn't call him and start to blame him, no! God just instructed him.
Don't confuse discipline for blames. God doesn't do blame games.
Look at when Peter cut the soldiers ear, Jesus didn't blame him etc.
Some folks claim that it was because of their past sins that is why the Holy Spirit blames them. That's shabby and an outright misrepresentation of God's nature. See what he said in scripture:
Hebrews 10:15-17 And the Holy Spirit also testifies that this is so. For he says, "This is the new covenant I will make with my people on that day, says the Lord: I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds." Then he says, "I will never again remember their sins and lawless deeds."
He says he won't remember it again.. Ask Paul he was never blamed for persecuting the church...never by God!!! God didn't remember it.... Jesus never blamed Peter for denying him or even Judas for betraying him. God doesn't blame or condemn you. He loves you. He doesn't even remember you did something like that, how can he now blame you for something he doesn't remember.
See this...
John 16:8-11 And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God's righteousness, and of the coming judgment. The world's sin is that it refuses to believe in me. Righteousness is available because I go to the Father, and you will see me no more. Judgment will come because the ruler of this world has already been judged
Three things the Holy Spirit will do on earth.
1: reprove the world of sin. Because they need to be saved. (the world is not you)
2: he would remind you of righteousness (never said he would blame you for sin, no!! He would remind you of your righteousness in christ)
3: finally, he would emphasis the judgement that has come upon the devil.
God doesn't blame you, he doesn't. He loves you. You are blameless before him.
Colossians 1:21-22 This includes you who were once far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions. Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are HOLY and BLAMELESS as you stand before him without a SINGLE FAULT.
The person who blames you is the devil! He is called the ACCUSER of the brethren. To accuse means to blame. God isn't confused. He can't blame you and then be your advocate! He ain't confused.
