Chin up
Question: How easy is it to give up?
Answer: very easy, it's probably easier than ABC
I am not going to write a long speech on 'why you shouldn't give up' or 'how to stop yourself from giving up' or something in that direction. Instead, I would show you people in different spheres of influence who we celebrate today but at some point
in their lives had every reason to give up but didn't and they didn't stop at "not giving up" they made undeniable impact in their field and the society too.
1. Micheal Jordan: Micheal Jeffrey Jordan, who was cut out from his high school basketball team, later turned out to be one of the most effectively marketed athlete of his generation. The former basketball player is said to have played an important role in popularizing the NBA around the world in the 80's and 90's. Please don't forget this was the same person that was cut from a basketball team when he was younger.
2. Walt Disney: Walter Elias "walt" Disney
He played a major role in our entertainment as children and even in our adult life too. But here is the thing walt was fired from a newspaper for 'lacking imagination' and 'having no original idea'. Extremely hilarious right? We can find this funny now because this man was the founder of walt Disney production which later became one of the best known motion picture producers in the world. He was an American film producer, director, entrepreneur, animator, screenwriter, entertainer, voice actor and philanthropist. These are pretty awesome titles for someone 'who lacked imagination'*winks*
3. Albert Einstein: You don't need to be overly interested in sciences to know this man.But did you know, he couldn't speak until he was almost 4yrs and his teachers said he would not amount to much. Well, Albert Einstein was a theoretical physicist who developed the general theory of relativity and guess what, he is today regarded as the father of modern physics and did i forgot to mention that he is a nobel prize winner too. Yh!!!!!
4. Steve Harris: At some point I thought this man wasn't Nigerian, thanks to his accent. Harris is said to be Nigerians leading life strategist, a motivational speaker(well sought after), management consultant and author. If enhancing personal and cooperate productivity is what you need then Steve Harris is your go to guy.
He has been a consultant to several high ranking institutions, and you are probably asking were is the " don't give up" moment in his story. Well, brace yourself Steve was kicked out of the university of Benin in his penultimate year. He should have given up right? But he didn't. Thank God he didn't o, cos I love getting a new mail from the Steve Harris company every week on how to be a ruthless executor.
And these are just a few amongst many; Oprah Winfrey was raped at 9, pregnant at 14 and was fired from a news channel for being "unfit for Tv" Mention media moguls today and her name comes on top of the list. OR Is it Steve Jobs who was fired from his own company OR Steven spillberg(film maker)who was rejected from a prestigious film school three times, the same film school now has a building named after him.
These people didn't give up inspite of all their challenges and see where they got to.
And in the words of Winston Churchill Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.
So, don't give up keep pushing and always remember that "you can do all things through christ that strengths you"
